Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Pyxelze handles your data. The software is designed to be local-first and privacy-respecting.

Data collected

The Pyxelze desktop application runs entirely on your device and processes all files locally. It does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

The Pyxelze website may process the following anonymous data to ensure the proper functioning of the service:

• Language preference stored in your browser (localStorage)

• Anonymous device fingerprint (technical characteristics such as screen resolution, operating system, graphics capabilities) transmitted to the server when generating a license key

• IP address, temporarily hashed and stored when generating a license key

• Generated license key, stored in your browser (localStorage) and server-side

None of this data allows personal identification (name, email, address, precise location).

License keys and fraud prevention

When you generate a free license key, an anonymous device fingerprint is computed from non-identifying technical characteristics available to your browser. This fingerprint is irreversible (one-way hash) and cannot be used to identify you personally.

The IP address is hashed (SHA-256) at the moment of generation and stored alongside the fingerprint and the generated key. This hashing makes the original IP unrecoverable.

This data is used exclusively to prevent abuse, namely the automated generation of multiple license keys from the same device or network. It is never used for profiling, marketing, or commercial purposes.

Legal basis

The processing of anonymous device fingerprints and hashed IP addresses is based on our legitimate interest in protecting the service against fraud and abuse (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). This processing is strictly necessary to ensure that free license keys are not mass-generated by automated scripts or device farms.

No consent is required for this processing as it falls under the fraud prevention exemption recognized by data protection authorities for strictly necessary technical measures.

Data retention

Anonymous device fingerprints and associated license keys are retained server-side for the entire duration of the license validity.

Hashed IP addresses are retained for a maximum of 13 months.

Data stored in your browser (localStorage) can be deleted at any time by clearing your browser site data.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, and erase your personal data. Since the data we process is anonymous and cannot be linked to a specific individual, these rights may be exercised if you are able to provide the specific license key or fingerprint concerned.

You also have the right to object to the processing of your data based on legitimate interest. To exercise this right, simply refrain from generating a license key on this site.

Cookies

This site uses localStorage to remember the selected language and the generated license key. Its current build does not include an audience analytics or advertising tracker.

Third-party services

The Pyxelze desktop app checks for updates via the GitHub API. No personal data is transmitted during this check.

The website uses YouTube-nocookie.com for embedded videos, which limits tracking.
