A practical guide to hiding files in PNG images with Pyxelze, from choosing files to creating and reopening an encrypted image archive.

Pyxelze can package files into an encrypted archive and store it in a PNG image. Use these steps to create an image and confirm that you can recover the files.

Download Pyxelze from its official website and install the version for Windows, macOS, or Linux. Open the desktop application after installation.

Choose the files or folders to add to the archive. Check the selection before continuing, especially if the source folder contains files you do not intend to include.

Select the option to pack and encrypt the files. Set a strong password that you can store safely. Pyxelze uses PBKDF2 to derive an encryption key and AES-256-GCM to protect the archive.

Choose where to save the output PNG. Keep the original files until you have reopened the image in Pyxelze and confirmed that the archive can be recovered with your password.

Avoid editing or recompressing the image. Some image services change uploaded files, which can remove or damage the encoded archive. Keep a separate backup if the files matter.

To recover the files, open the saved PNG in Pyxelze and provide the password. Confirm that the recovered files are complete before relying on the image as your only copy.
